About
My research aims to understand the trajectory of people who decided to undergo bariatric surgery, the focus is on how discourses captured in virtual communities describe the proposed treatment during the postoperative period. In particular I am seeking to analyze how patients incorporate the medical staff discourse about the "treatment success". The importance of the proposed continuous medical monitoring during the surgery process is often associated with successful treatment in the discourse of social actors involved - the medical staff and patients. The objective of my research is to analyze the relationship between the concept of patient career and the trajectory of those who decided to undergo surgery.
